Applied behaviour analysis
ABA is a science, not an approach
It is the science of behaviour
ABA, the science of behaviour, has principles that can be applied to teach any behaviour
We use those principles to teach children and families various behaviours based on family’s and child’s goals
Controversy around ABA
In the past, the principles of behaviours were used to enforce compliance, conformity or surpress natural autistic traits.
Discrete Trial Training (DTT) was regularly used in the early stages of ABA. DTT and ABA have been incorrectly understood as one and the same.
Just like any science, ABA learns from the past, and undergoes constant, necessary evolution.
These days, focus has shifted from compliance-based training to empowerment.
Neuro-affirming services
Our team members hold that autism is a natural variation in how people’s brains work. This neurodivergence is part of human diversity, and not a disability, disorder, or deficit.
We adhere to the flexible use of the principles of ABA to teach different learners whose brains work differently
Our services are individualised, acknowledging and serving the values of each learner and family
